PLA is one of the most commonly used materials for the FDM process in 3D printing. The bioplastic has properties that make it attractive for many applications: It has a high surface hardness, rigidity and UV resistance, does not tend to warp and is almost odorless. In addition, it is obtained from regenerative sources and is one of the biocompatible plastics, i.e. it is biodegradable (under certain conditions).

High quality PLA filament for perfect results

The quality of the filament is crucial for a clean print in intense, pure colors. Using inferior PLA filament can lead to a number of problems, including stringing (pressure pulls strings), warping (deformation of the material), and nozzle clogging.

At Vision 3D, we know these issues only too well and have made it our mission to produce quality filaments at fair prices that enable a first-class printing experience.

Our PLA filament impresses with the following properties:

✓ Good (bed) adhesion

Our PLA filament ensures good adhesion both on the print bed and between layers, resulting in a solid print result.

✓ Print results without threads

With our PLA filament, a clean print is possible without the stringing that can occur when molten filament exits the moving extruder nozzle (“stringing” or “oozing”).

✓ Clean winding

We guarantee a clean winding of the filament so that your printer's nozzle does not clog or the filament strands do not break.

✓ Pure colors

Intense colors that don't run - you can only expect that from high-quality filament. Our filament promises a beautiful, pure color that looks exactly the same when printed as it does on the spool.

✓ Vacuum sealed

Since filament quickly becomes porous in air, our spools go into vacuum packaging immediately after manufacture, in which the moisture is retained.

PLA: features and benefits

PLA stands for polylactide - a polyester plastic that is mainly made from renewable raw materials such as corn starch or sugar cane. The material is one of the most popular 3D printing filaments.

Uncomplicated and beginner-friendly

When used for 3D printing, PLA is very uncomplicated and rarely causes problems (e.g. in the form of warping), which is why the material is perfect for getting started with 3D printing. Almost every common 3D printer is able to process PLA.

No heated print bed required

Since PLA, unlike many other types of filament, does not shrink when it cools down, it can also be used with printers without a heated print bed.

Good mechanical properties

PLA impresses with its high surface hardness and rigidity. This means it's resistant to contact with other materials, so it won't easily scratch, break or warp - a big plus for 3D printed objects that need to last and look good.

No unpleasant smells

When heated, PLA doesn't smell like molten plastic, it just emits a faint, sweet smell that comes from the natural raw materials from which the material is made.

Eco-friendly filament

PLA is obtained from regenerative sources and is one of the biocompatible plastics that are biodegradable under suitable conditions. This makes the material more environmentally friendly than other types of filament.

Flame retardant but with a low melting point

PLA does not catch fire quickly, but it does melt at temperatures above 65 degrees Celsius.

What is PLA suitable for?

PLA is easy to print and delivers good results - no wonder it's popular with beginners in the field of 3D printing. Because of its durability, PLA can be used for a variety of applications. However, it is not particularly heat resistant. The dimensional stability of the material is 65 degrees Celsius - so it is not suitable for applications in warmer environments.
